The participatory work CANTIQUE was created from two films by Marie Chouinard made in 2003: Cantique no 1, earning the two performers the Award for Best Performance at the Moving Pictures Festival of Dance on Film and Video in Toronto, and Cantique no 2, a multi-screen film hailed by critics.

Since her first dance work in 1978, the Montreal choreographer Marie Chouinard established her reputation as a highly original and compelling artist. In 1990, she founded her own company, COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD. From then on, the COMPAGNIE performs all over the world and co-produces its pieces with international partners. Also an author, a set and lighting designer, a photographer and a film maker, Marie Chouinard’s opus includes installations, multimedia pieces and films. A true cultural ambassador for Quebec, she has won several awards for her contribution to the arts.
